    am i correct in saying that the white inspiron 1520 does not have a microsatin finish while all other colours do

    the white and matte black are not microsatin. the white is high gloss white the black is a matte black plastic finish

    the microsatin is the most scratch resistant under normal use but from what i have seen in person and others have said on this forum it can tend to rub off around the sharper corner showing the colored plastic under it which then is not coated anymore, thats the reason i liked the reg matte black that is the actual plastic so scratches will not as easly seen. but it picks up fingerprints like crazy. and of course the gloss white will be the most scratch prone due to its glossy finish.

    The microsatin can be a problem if some idiot comes along and writes on it with a ball point pen -- at least if you get one of the lighter colors that show the ink.
