i finally received my inspiron 1520 in the evening. its a spring green with remote and ear phones. the moment that i took it out of the styro foam, i realised the gargantuan beast that i was holding is not only large but also heavy. the spring green colour did remind me of the spring and yes, there was a "spring" in my steps.the microsatin finish did not allow finger stains to hold up on its surface and i mindlessly spent a few moments caressing the body.upon starting it up and completing all the formalities that vista requires you to do, i straight away went to the control panel to check the manufacturer of my lcd. it was my worst nightmare...AUO. however close examination of the display revealed that the dreaded "graininess" was more of a psychological issue than nething else . adjusting the brightness i realised how vibrant the screen looked. to notice the pixels i had to stare from about 4" from the lcd.the viewing angle was amazing and even at large inclinations from the centret he pics looked amazingly clear . in my opinion its a much better lcd than people have reported it to be. comparatively its much better than an hp which tends to become dark when viewed from an angle. then i plugged the earphones.i did not notice any sound distortion and the sound was as crystal clear as the the sound of "niagra falls". i didnt find any background humming either. the touch pad was very responsive and after a few minutes of fiddling i was in control though the vista interface was a bit too "friendly" for my taste. the keyboard's shiny layout and tactile response was a pleasure to work with.i did not even hear the fans , the bottom however became a bit too hot for comfort after a while. the latch as already many have reported did not look that impressive.battery on full charge gave me about 3 hrs on relatively high settings. the bluetooth was working fine and i used it to transfer a few songs from my Motorola L6. i don't have a wireless network around, so i couldn't check if it worked to my satisfaction. all in all i am a satisfied customer. thank you dell for giving me the right notebook on my very first notebook purchase.

    Very nice mini-review.
    Thank you
I ordered before you and I am still waiting "because of the lcd shortage" according to the dell reps I talked to today. I am another midnight blue owner, waiting forever.

actually i was supposed to be a ruby red owner. but the very day i was about to confirm my order the dell rep told me the red and the blue are out of stock and would delay the order by three weeks. so i went with my second choice.. the spring green..
