A very wealthy friend of mine just bought a new laptop because his old one was having display problems. He was just letting it collect dust so he gave it to me :). The computer is completely functional except for some graphical "glitches." When booting, the Dell screen and BIOS screen is almost unreadable, but when in windows at the desktop it looks almost completely normal. The glitches happen when I pull up the start menu or open anything really. The interesting part is that after I close a window it leaves a little distortion behind, but if I right click and hit refresh, it looks normal again. I don't know the story of how it got damaged.

My question is this, could this issue be solved simply by opening the laptop up and reconnecting a plug or resoldering something? If so, how would I go about opening it?

    Thanks in advance.
