Hi, this is my first post, just wondering if anyone has managed to install more than the stated 2*250gb drives on a 1720.

Reason I asked is that I bought mine with a 160gb drive then added a 250, I now want to replace the 160 with a larger size but would rather buy a 320gb drv rather than a 250.

Also has anyone replaced their 667mhz dimm's for 800's and noticed any real difference?

    My spec's, T7200 CPU 2ghz, 800fsb,4mb cache, 2gb ram 667, 160gb & 250gb hdd's, 8600GT, 1920*1200 LCD

See my sig. ;) 640GB - Dual 320GB 7200rpm drives; how I wish there was a Raid option available. I'm immediately purchasing dual 500GB 7200rpm drives once available sometime next year - That is unless the BIOS supports reading at that capacity, which I think it shouldn't be a problem.

I will advice you not to buy DDR2-800 RAMs - It will fit in, but our Santa Rosa GM965 chipsets in our 1720s will downclock to 667Mhz effective speed instead. You can max it out to 6GB if you want. I did a test back then - It's working beautifully up till now. I'm gonna take a plunge and buy another 4GB from newegg for $159.99 and see if 8GB works. 6GB is still not enough for my needs.

Let me know if you need more info.
