    hi, i'm recieving my dell 1720 next week (est. ship date: 8/02), can any one giv me a recomendation or waht to spect from my new laptop?? the specs are on my sig

    well .. its an awesome machine... i got the 1440*900... so i guess ur screens gonna be awesome.. and the keyboard is also very good.. and the build quality is rock solid

    I've had mine for a week and a half and I'm not disappointed in the slightest. You might want to download a custom video driver from laptopvideo2go.com - the included Dell driver is pretty shoddy.

    Congrats! However....don't get too excited on a shipment for next week, I ordered on July 8 and have had my shipment delayed twice and it is now expected to ship on Aug 2. I am not holding my breath on that date either.

    lol, i've been expecting it to be delayed :p the thing is that i'm not from usa and i'm traveling there in about 2 weeks and i need it to be there, well, at least if im not there, i could get it sent by a carrier or something

    I don't know what the darn hold up actually is on these...I have heard it may be certain colors or possibly the LCD screens...who knows and you cannot get a straight answer on anything from Dell, believe me, I was on the phone with them for 1hr 35min. yesteday and was transfered to over 7 reps and still no answers. I guess you just have to wait and see...maybe you will get lucky and win on the Dell shipment lottery...who knows, but good luck.

    You can expect the Ruby Red screen to be gorgeous.
    And that resolution is brilliant.

    The graphics are good too...
