well, after only having the thing for...less than 10 days or so, the hard drive has crashed. i got the BSOD and an error ab out IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. i spent two hours on the phone with dell tech support (and what a treat that is...hard to understand, to say the least) and we tried all different kinds of things. finally, we tried to do the system restore and it wouldn't budge.

so, a new hard drive is on the way. this totally blows. good thing i hadn't sold my gateway just yet. and good thing i have my stuff backed up.

i hate laptops right about now.

one bad apple doesn't spoil the whole bunch tho. had my xps140 for about 4 months now and it's great.

still have yet to do my format - reinstall of xp tho.

Yes, it is quite easy to get soured by an entire model or company just by having a bad lemon but you really shouldn't let it get to you. I've only heard great things about Fujitsu and their support and was very dissapointed by my former Lifebook's screen quality in regards to stuck pixels, left a very bad taste of Fujitsu in my mouth.

Don't hate Dell, hate your specific computer itself.

Well, you can be lucky. What if your HD went out after the warranty?

Hey it could've been worse. At least you had the special XPS support and you were able to get a replacement

Well you WERE able to resolve it at least by actually getting the replacement part you needed.
