well i got my 1520 the other day configured as this. final price 1208 for all this. if you configure this notebook up now it'll run you over 1600-1700 last time I checked..
1520
2.2 intel dual core 2 (7500 I think)
1600 gb Hard drive 5400 RPM
2gb RAm
8600 nivida graphics card
3945 or whatever it is wireless card (like 29 extra)
2nd best screen ( 50 more)
jet black
web camera
integrated Blue tooth
future upgrades:
get rid of the DELL POS DIMMS and get some real RAM lol.. probably 3-4 gb's I'll have to search for some GOOD ram.
replace the hardrive with either a segate or hatichi 100+ gb 7200 rpm
both these just so happened to be the free upgrade of the week so i didn't really pay for them I guess..
But any suggestions would be appreciated. on any good brand ram besides crucial and the T one..I've already read the HOT RAM Deals thread too..
Of yea I've getting a repacement computer identical to mine in about 8 days becuase vista was messing up and running slower than normal and they didn't know what was going on. So they just suggested me get a replacement.. I'm hoping this new one has a good screen I've heard some of the newer build 1520's screens are really grainy.
Ya, they also game me a 40 dollar mouse (wireless) and a 2gb scan disk titanium flash drive for the inconvience..

Yea good job getting a good price. You bought at the right time. What do you mean "good" RAM? More expensive does not work better. Now if you want more sure good. But don't just look for name brands, look for good price from a good retailer and lifetime warranty. 667Mhz CL5 from any MFG should run the same. A Civic @60mph and Corvette @60mph are both going the same speed.

I've just been told by several computer savy guys that build their own computers out of scratch that the dells DIMMS are not very good.. And especially what you pay for them, basically what they were saying is don't pay 100+ dollars to upgrade to 2gb's from 1gb.. Just get the 2gb after from online somewhere for cheaper and better quality..

DELLs RAM is certainly more expensive than others, and paying 100+ for a 2GB upgrade is a waste of money. But they are not bad nor slow. Why did you buy 2GB if you were thinking of aftermarket RAM upgrades?

Congrats and nice price -
how'd u get such a hot deal? dell coupons or somethin?
-
dell normally uses samsung ram which are great chips, if not samsung ive also seen hynix.. also a great chip nothing at all wrong with either of those
and lol WHOAH great hd drive there... thats huge (j/k) 1600gb wow -
i've seen some Dell RAM modules as rebadged Crucial modules. so it seems they go to a lot of different vendors.

Just did a MemTest86 on my Inspiron RAM, and it passed with flying colors, as well as any name brand performance desktop RAM would have.
Back in the day about 4 years ago Dell was using 2nd run RAM chips that were getting passed up by the name brands like Crucial and OCZ and the like, they have gotten far far better now though and Dell's RAM is as good as any other.
my new 1520
