my i6000 came with 1 dead pixel (black) in the lower right quadrant. no biggie you could hardly tell on the wuxga lcd. however, i just powered it on 5 minutes ago and staring me in the face was a bright green dead pixel in the upper right quadrant. on phone with dell now setting up exchange.

.....AAAAAANNND new one is on order

i must say, i'm quite please at how the call went

So did you tell the truth and get lucky or lie?

    http://www.notebookreview.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=11976&SearchTerms=pixel,policy

indicates Dell would require at least 7 defective pixels before approving return/exchange.

I'm crossing my fingers waiting for my I6000....

I should be getting my 6000 soon. If there is one dead pixel.... I am going to return it. I am sure if you ***** enough Dell will over look the policy.

The 5 or more or whatever policy is probably after your refund eligibility expires.

They figure it would be much easier to give you an exchange for 1 dead pixel now and keep you as a customer rather than have you refund your laptop, get upset, and buy a new laptop elsewhere. So yes, he is most likley telling the truth.

nope, i told her exactly what happened. it's less than a week old and had 1 dead pixel (black) = not too big a deal. powered on in the morning and staring me in the face was a bright green pixel sitting square in a black portion of my wallpaper.

i told her that, ready for battle, but as soon as i said that, she responded, "oh, ok, lemme get an exchange ready for you." put me on hold for about 2 minutes, came back, said everything was ready to go, gave me a new order number.

altho, i powered on later in the day and the green pixel is now gone and hasn't returned.

i'm still gonna make the swap cuz now i don't trust this display... i don't want a bunch of pixels freaking out on me after the return period expires

good to know (that she was responsive about the return/exchange), and I agree, I would be paranoid with that one, too...

too much moola for that kinda headgame

you sure it was a dead pixel and not dust? Sometimes dust looks like a dead pixel. Once in a while I will think I have a dead pixel on one of my many LCD devices and all I have to do is blow on it to get rid of it.

My guess is it was dust because once a pixel goes dead it doesn't recover.

the black pixel was def dead. it's still black. the green pixel i guess should more accurately be called a "stuck" pixel. and, oh yeah, there's no way someone could mistake a stuck green pixel with dust, it's like george micheal wake me up before you go go music video neon green.

somehow it came unstuck. but like i said, i don't trust this display now, so it's going back.

Congrats on the good service with Dell. My experience is that they may put you through hell, but they will compensate you for it.
