hey all,
i've got a m1330 with vista on it and all of the sudden the speaker icon for volume control that sits in the task bar just disappeared. if i right click on the task bar, go to properties, under system icons the volume option is greyed out and won't let me select it. the sound works fine and i use dell quickset to see what my volume level is, but it was nice having an icon so i could tell if my computer was muted or not. please help me get this back.
thanks

You've restarted since, right?

yeah, i've restarted. twice now.

Never mind, just saw that you already checked the task bar properties.
That is extremely weird..
Refer to this http://www.vistax64.com/vista-performance-maintenance/105648-icons-not-showing-up-startup.html
They suggest restarting the explorer shell.. and if they show up after that, that means another start up program is interfering with them. -
Check for viruses?
my volume icon disappeared!! please help...
