I am about to buy XPS1530 with the following configuration:

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7250 (2.00 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2-cache)
15.4" UltraSharp™ Widescreen WSXGA+ (1680x1050) TFT Display with TrueLife™ (still not sure, maybe I'll take lower resolution)
    4096MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x2048]
    250GB (5400RPM) SATA Hard Drive
NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 8600M GT with 256MB dedicated graphic memory

    1)

the offer for this XPS expires on 13th of Fabruary, do you think I should wait for new offer and expect it could be cheaper? I don't know what's it like usually with Dell, should I expect price decrease or increase? Or is it probable that there will be more options available to choose from regarding HDD and LCD

    2)
I was trying to get faster HDD with 7200 RPM but it seems impossible therefore I would like to know your opinion if it is worth to spend +100€ on getting CPU T7500 with 4 MB cache.
I wonder if I feel the difference if my HDD will be relatively slow. I am waiting your comments.

    Thanks for your comments guys!!

7200 is the fastest you'll get in a Dell notebook, or ANY notebook as far as I know.

The fastest I could get with this configuration is the one below:
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7700 (2.40 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 4 MB L2-cache
    but its too expensive,

so what do you reckon as for my questions?

i think you should wait till the penryn is out on xps 1530....i think they make a hell worth of difference....however expect the prices to soar a little on the introduction of penryn

for the second question.....the max speed of ur computer on most occasions is equal to the speed of the slowest component....ie the hard disk......so i think u should go with the 72k rpm and 160Gb option and use an external drive to store huge files if u have any.......u can buy the drive from savings on the T7500 i think

    Hi kuncheesh,
    thanks for your opinion,
as for waiting on penryn I don't know if I could hold as I have been without a computer for good few months especially that there is no clear indication when penryn would be introduced for XPS model

when it comes to HDD I don't have option of choosing 160 GB 7200 as there are only two options available, (in fact only one reasonable)

250GB (5400RPM) SATA Hard Drive [Included in Price]
    64GB Solid State Drive [add € 1,230.01 ]

I asked a rep on dell chat only to find out 160 GB 7200 is not applicable to XPS

so with having just one option for HDD do you think I should stick to T7250??

Don't spend the extra money on the ram upgrade. Get the 1GB option and buy two 2GB sticks from newegg, you should save upwards of $100.

Hmm I disagree the difference will be marginal unless media encoding. The increased battery life will also be no big jump.
