I am planning to bump my E1505 up from 1 GB of ram to 2 GB and want to make sure I get RAM that will fit and work properly the first time. I pulled one of my current memory sticks out to look it over and here's what I have figured out so far. The new RAM needs to have the slot off center, and I think there are 200 pins (I counted 100, times 2 sides of the stick = 200). I would like to get RAM that is 667 MHz to match the 667 of the FSB of the CPU. I don't know it this is true or not but I have heard you don't get the full potential if the RAM is slower than the FSB of the processor (even though that may be trivial). Other questions I have are, does the voltage or the timing need to be a specific amount, and, what's the difference between PC2 5300 and PC2 5400? And last of all, to make sure the RAM still functions in dual channel mode, it doesn't matter if I buy a kit of 2 sticks of if I buy 2 sticks of the same thing separately, right? Here are a couple that I think might be right/good. Sorry, I know that's a lot of questions. Any help is appreciated, and if there's anything else I should know let me know. Thanks.

Correct you need DDR2-667 ram. PC2-5300 and PC2-5400 are the same thing because its:
clockspeed(667mhz) x 8 which equals 5336.
Some Manufacturers round up to 5400 and other round down to 5300. Same thing applies to PC2-4200/4300 which you can also use in your laptop. Becuase of Latency issue a DDR2-533 might be better but in the real world you wont notice the difference, just go for the cheaper option.
Also look the Hot Ram deals thread you might find better prices.
It doesnt matter if you buy the ram together or separately just make sure the specs match. Just look for the cheaper price. There are some good deals on the 2gb kits in the Hot Ram deals thread. -
Ok. So I need 200-pin ram right? Would 533 MHz ram w/ CAS latency of 4 be faster or slower than 667 MHz ram w/ CAS latency of 5? Also, does the ram need to be a specific voltage or timing for my computer? Most of the ones I've been looking at are 1.8 V.

Don't forget...chances are you have 2 sticks of ram that equal 1gb...check and make sure...because if that is the case you will need 2 1gb sticks to replace what you have.

Yep I checked, that's what I've got. 2 sticks @ 512 MB each for 1 GB dual channel.
