I'm trying to get my laptop to hook up to my Sony tv but it isnt working as smoothly as i'd like. i plugged in the 7 pin cable which has a converter to the yellow rca cable thingy (not sure of the correct terminology, sorry). All i get on my tv video input is some fuzzy static. Windows media center cannot detect a television, nor does the Nvidia display settings. I changed the resolution to 800x600, set up the extended monitor option but anytime i apply the settings, the extended monitor option just gets grayed out. I also tried to reboot my laptop with the cables connected and it still doesn't work. Any ideas? thanks.

See if you have any options on your Sony tv to change the input.

Yea, I have 4 video inputs and I had it on the appropriate input. I even tried it through my VCR and i get my standard blue screen on the TV as if no signal is sent. Any other suggestions?

Unfortunately not. All i can do is use s-video and i'm not sure why it isnt working. Would there be a difference in a s-video out and in cable? The one i have is 7 pins so it fits perfectly with the slot in my vostro. I wonder if that could be it?
