    Hi guys.

So around 8 months ago i bought an alienware m17x, with 5870m as gpu. Since 3 months ago, every once in a while when the gpu is under load, it would just freeze and display a strip lined screen and must be restarted.

Lately, that occurred more and more often, up to 7 to 8 times a day =/

I had tried a clean reinstall of windows 7, updating to the latest drivers, but it didnt help the problem. So i concluded that it must be hardware that is causing the problem.

So i am wondering, will i be able to get a dell guy to come replace the gpu for me? Since its not like the gpu is permanently fried, and the blackouts only happen every couple hours, how will i be able to prove that there is something wrong with my gpu?

    All advice appreciated!

As long as you have the appropriate valid warranty, you can call dell and take it from there. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't help you out.
