    Hello ,

I have just recently acquired a Dell Latitude CP M233ST and want to connect to the Internet using a dial up ISP provider. What type and name of the card will I need? Do they usually come with the drivers? And do these cards have a modem inside of them already?
Sorry about the stupid questions, but I am so used to my Dell desktop and that was a breeze to connect to the Internet. I know very little about the laptops!!

    you need something like this.

u didin't say anything about OS, so i'm assuming win95 or 98 with those specs.

i'm not saying you need the above card specifically, but something like that... a PC Card Modem

    Hi,
The laptop is running Windows 2000. I do have a 3com Megahertz 10/100 LAN PC Card, but still unable to connect to the ISP provider. The ISP provider is the same one that I am using for my desktop and they only provide tech support via a phone call that I will be charged for. I am just wondering what others are using for dial up with their laptops.
I have seen cards that also read "56 k modem" and I am not sure what the difference is between the card that I already have and the one that I just mentioned about.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Ruby

The 3com Megahertz 10/100 LAN PC Card is an ethernet card, it is not for dialup. You will need the 56k modem. Both plugs look like phone plugs, but the ethernet one is slightly bigger than the dialup one.

    wong,

Thank you so much. That is what I thought and you just gave me assurance that I was right about that type of card.

does this mean you are currently paying for broadband service (cable or dsl)?

if so, you should buy a router and run both your laptop and desktop thru the same connection.

there is no need to use a dialup account on your laptop if you already have broadband.

    Hi,
No, broadband here. I am a dial up sort of girl...hehe!

And the laptop has the capabilities for all three [Ethernet, Wireless and Dial up] but I prefer the dial up for the moment.
