Unless you are planning on hooking it up to ur tv, you prolly wont use the SVid out.
It seems like a pretty good deal, and a solid laptop for the price.

Pretty much, and if you are using it for Projection Displays they usually have VGA Hookups so you don't even need the S-Video... and Honestly I can't remember using my S-Video my Junior, Senior, or Even First YEar of College

I graduated from Undergrad last May. I've never had to use S-video before. I bought the D620 to use for graduate school for the next four years.

Your specs look good but I would go with the 14.1" WXGA + as I've read posts from those that had both the WXGA and WXGA + that the plus is more vibrant. Also, unless you're getting some kind of deal through your school I would just opt for the lowest ram you can get through Dell and buy the ram you need from Newegg. Replacing the RAM on the D620 requires but removing one screw. I saw 1GB stick, made by Transcend, on Newegg that's going for $71.50 after a $10 rebate. I plan to put in another stick for a total of 2GB on mine. Everything else looks good.

If you could get past the fact that this laptop is going to get pretty warm after two or so hours of use you'll love this laptop.

That's a good deal you got.
    My specs are:
    Core Duo 2.00GHz
    Windows XP Pro
    14.1" WXGA+
1GB of RAM 1DIMM (got 1GB because lowest option from school deal... for another $8 I could get it in one stick instead of two)
    256MB NVIDIA quadro
    100GB HDD 7200RPM
    6 Cell Primary Battery
    3 years CompleteCare

    Total: $1468
