I ordered my Inspiron 640m on July 19. Everything went on schedule from order acknowledgement to shipping. I got my tracking number from dell and i was happy to know it was on its way to me. Everyday i checked to track my package and the progress was quite quick. Then the last time i checked it said it was already delivered to me. I was so surprised since i never recieved any package. Checked if the left it outside my house but there wasn't any package. The worst part is, it said on the tracking site that the package was signed by someone else. 3 questions:

    1. Can this really happen?
    2. Have any of you guys experienced this?
    3. What do i have to do to get my package?

Contact UPS immediately. Dell will have to send you a new one and they will work it out with UPS I'm sure.

Thanks Aivyn! But could this really happen? Is UPS that unreliable considering that they've been in the business for a long time? They must be crazy!

Wow, yeah, I think it COULD happen, but I just never have heard of it happening. I had to sign for mine, but they didn't ask ANY questions, so I could have been anyone and it wouldn't have mattered.

Man, that's a major bummer! I've been waiting for my lappy for about a week now and then this happens. Why does Dell have to continue using UPS when their delivery service is that bad? I mean, it could be one of the reasons why Dell is in such a financial slump.

hmm, we ordered on the same day. I think august 10 is too long already. i think you have to call them up and ask why it'll take so long.

Maybe someone stole it off your doorstep...this seem unlikely though because it was signed for...If possible maybe find out who accepted the package. Sorry to hear about your loss. =(

See this http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=65007&highlight=d420, UPS "lost" my Dell D420 and I had to call Dell to have another one built. It took two extra weeks and the second time in two months UPS has really screwed me. I can't believe they simply lost (or it was stolen) my laptop. What area are you located in bjdelro? I'm in NYC.

I feel for you abaxter. I really think Dell should do something about this one. Maybe change their carrier to a more honest and reliable on.

I think someone should also be accountable. You should get some monetary compensation for waiting twice as long to have another system built and shipped.

yea UPS shouldnt be immune from being responsible for missing packages especially when they loose an unacceptable amount.
