I ordered a new 1520 yesterday. Here are the specs..

    SYSTEM COLOR Ruby Red
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7300 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/4MB cache)
Genuine Windows ® Vista Home Premium Edition
High Resolution, glossy widescreen 15.4" TrueLife display (1440x900)
    256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 8600M GT
    2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz
    160G 7200RPM SATA HDD
CD / DVD writer (DVD+/-RW Drive)
    Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card
    Built-in Bluetooth capability (2.0 EDR)
    Integrated 2.0M Pixel Webcam
    6-cell Primary Battery
    Additional 9-cell Lithium Ion Battery
    High Definition Audio 2.0
PC-Care Plus, three year accidental warranties, etc.

After the $350 coupon and 7% system discount with PC-CarePlus plan, it was $1,798.63.

This is my first laptop that I have bought for personal use. At the office (IT administrator), we use Dell laptops (Latitudes), and we've been pretty happy with them. We just bought 12 new ones last year and haven't had any problems. This laptop will be for personal use, i.e., office lan parties (I hate lugging my XPS 600 for those), college work, and work-work. A co-worker has had two Inspirons and two XPS laptops (currently has the 17" XPS lappy) in the past and he loves them.

The estimated ship date is 7/15/2007, is Dell pretty accurate on build dates and shipping normal consumer products?

Nice. Good luck with the order.

On the ship date, my cousin ordered his SZ and he received it on the same day that they had estimated, while other people have received their computers before or after the date.

I don't think we can really say when they will come considering they are brand new additions.

Dell is pretty good on ship dates. I have heard some problems lately due to stock but that was on the older systems. I think it is because they were burning our their stock. I got mine in half the time they said and it was only en route for 2 days before I got it. So keep your hopes high.

My xps 410 that I ordered shipped about 3-4 days earlier then their ship date.

I think they stretch out the ship date to cover themselves.

Same thing happened with the dimmension 9200's that I ordered at work.

It's impossible to tell whether or not they'll meet the quoted date. New models might take longer because there is a huge rush to order them.
