Since the other thread at http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=136356 has gotten SO chatty and SO off topic (people talking about metric system, date formats, Canadians, antivirus software, what side of the road people drive on, piracy, etc.), can we just post the important details here?

I counted 204 posts to that thread on 7/16/07 alone and most were off topic.

As much as I loathe to add discussion to this topic, see my original post at http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=142471. The other thread is just littered with WAY too much off-topic discussion ranging w/topics like piracy, airplanes, tankers, anti-virus apps, etc. The times I've counted, there are 200+ posts/day, most of which have no new useful info or updates relates to order status/shipping. I have no time to keep up and read and sift thru all those posts. I suspect many others are in the same boat.

The day isn't over yet and I've counted 120 posts to the other thread. I just saw some posts where people are talking about Ebay, scams, cargo cults, etc.

People can keep doing their chatter on the other thread. People should just post ACTUAL updates here.

I was hoping against all hope that maybe just maybe ordering my laptop w/o the camera and 9 cell would speed up my delivery and it may just have done it for me (I would have loved the extra hours, but the bump was a real turn-off, and I would never use the camera anyways so might as well not have the components and associated softwares in there I guess).

This was right in the nick of time too because I've been spending my hours after school (I'm taking summer classes) looking at the MBP's in the student store and its been harder and harder to walk away from them knowing that my Dell would take another month+!!

Oh yeah and my sales rep (the best rep ever!!) told me that it should ship in 4 days and upgraded my shipping to overnight

I don't literally count them. If you hadn't noticed, there's a post count. It's not terribly hard w/50 posts on a page to skip pages till you find day boundaries. Post 3826 to 4508 on that thread happened in 1 day. I haven't had time to read them but that's 682 posts in a day. I'm sure they were ALL VERY useful...

Since someone asked for my update, there's no change from my post on 7/22/07, hence no reason for me to add a useless post earlier.

I just got the replacement for the first M1330 which had the CCFL in error. No surprises here, they shipped the same thing again. I got another CCFL.

I spent 2.5 hours on the phone with a csr who read back each part number to me when he redid the order. Then he emailed me the confirmation so I could look it over while we were still on the phone and before he actually submitted it. It now looks like I might finally get the 1330 I ordered, with the LED, sometime in Sept. :cry:

Well, there's a change in my status. I canceled my order after being tired of waiting and deciding the price premium for the styling, weight and size wasn't worth it.

I ordered a 14.1" Thinkpad T61 instead and it was WAY cheaper when I closely matched the specs but gave the T61 a faster CPU. Now I might have another wait??? :

 

Dont know if your aware of it but this is a M1330 thread not..'cough cough' a thinkpad...and the two dont compare.

 

More bad news on Digitimes today, sources at Taiwan-based retail channels expect delays will last until October-November for consumer notebooks.
