    Hi,

    I am looking to buy a notebook, and I want to make good use of my money. I like the dell 8600 a lot, but it has been out for a year, and i get the feeling that it will be upgraded in some way soon. What I want to know is how soon? I would like to get the notebook now, but I can wait until early next year, and I will wait if something new is coming from dell. I have my heart set on dells, for several reasons, mainly because the school that i work at gets a discount on dells. anyone have any ideas as to rumors or anything about upcoming dell notebooks? any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you.

    At least one will be an entirely new product.

    I know you wouldn't answer if I asked what chipset it used, but I would like to know if you personally think it would be a good idea to use grantsdale in a notebook, considering power consumption, increased weight, etc. How about LGA 775 sockets? The instertion failure rate of LGA does not seem feaseable.

    GPU cooling (100°C->75°C)* Inspiron 8600 * 1.8ghz Pentium M * 128 MB Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo (337/242 -> 400/300) * 2x512 MB DDR2700 SDRAM * Aquamark 3: 24058 * 3DMark'03: 3404 * 3DMark'01 SE: 13120

    I really don't think we'll see anything dramatic in the releases we're aware of.

    I wish that Dell was not so quiet on new releases, buzz and hype are good things, people wanna know this stuff, I know that there are some people that don't really care if a product is a year old or not, but some of us do, and if we do not hear of new releases, we might buy from another company.
