    new laptop wallpaper

    sorry if this is really really basic but....i just got a new dell laptop but can't seem to change the wallpaper that DELL have on it. is there a way around it?

    Right click, properties, go to the "desktop" tab

    i've done that but it doesn't allow me to select an alternative from the list.
    it's as if it's locked or something....
    it won't even let me browse for an image.....

    Do you have Admin privileges? Try changing the colour scheme, i.e. to windows classic. You could also try identifiying exactly where the current background picture is and putting your own background picture in it's place as a work-around.

    Ultimately, you may be better off re-installing a fresh copy of XP without all the bloatware that dell include.

    Hope that helps, but in all honesty i've never seen that issue before.

    try finding a pic on the net then right click on it and click on Set as Background
