When a tracking # is assigned does that mean it is built already and staging to ship or not necessarily and does a tracking # starting with E mean express shipping. thanks

How did you receive the tracking number? Through the order status screen (shipping status link)? If so, then it's shipped. It may be a few hours (or till Monday) before UPS's site will give you information though.

it will take a day or two for it to show up in their system. Just check everyday and you'll see it soon.

UPS won't have anything until they actually take posession of it. They may have something prior to that time, but it usually will something like "Shipment information transmitted" or something else non-descript. That just means Dell transmitted the tracking number and shipment information electronically to UPS, but UPS hasn't actually picked up the package.

Once they take possession of it, it should say "Origin scan". However, I have had packages before that were stuck in the "Shipment information transmitted" and were actually delivered before any tracking information was updated.

All UPS tracking numbers should start with something like 1ZE20A32##########. The first part is Dell's shipper ID, the last part is the individual package number. If the tracking ID doesn't have this format, then I would guess it is Fedex or some other shipping method.

I'm in the same boat as you are in right now. I ordered a e1505 last Thursday. It had an expected ship date of 10/12 but by EOD Thursday it was already into testing. It jumped to the final step mid-afternoon today and should be here Wednesday thru Friday.

Tracking # means that it has been shipped
