    Hello,

I had been lurking at the forums here, for about a month or so.

I ordered up, a Studio 1747 refurb [20% discount adjusted].
I gave myself a cap as to what to spend or
    I'd have ordered up a m6500.
    [maybe next year]

I have had the 1747 less then a week.
My only big grip at this time, is that the keyboard, is a finger-oil sponge.
[same w/ the my Acer, so I know what to expect]

It became necessary, to order a new laptop , or hard drive.
I choose laptop, for larger real estate on the screen.

I had some concerns ordering from Dell,
after reading about heat issues and visiting the local pc store, to feel, yes, those one's were running at idle hot.
    As was the XPS.

To my current satisfaction, the 1747 is running cooler then my Acer 3680.

I haven’t ran any games on it since I don’t own any
[ok; unboxed 7th guest and 11th hour],
but will as soon as I conjure up a Halo Reach or Crysis demo,
then I‘llre- check the heat ‘issue‘.

    The display is phenomenal,
AND I thought my Acer was great compared to my retired IBM.

    System:

    [no tv tuner :{]*
    [no bluetooth]*
    Black
    Win7 Home 64
    Backlit keyboard
    9 cell battery-85WHR
130 watt power supply [keeps cooler when stacked on side]
    ATI 560v
[order said ATI 4650: my understanding same card, new name.]
    Works,9

    Win Experience Index:
    Processor: 7.0
    Memory: 7.4
    Graphics 6.6
[after a slight tweek, was 5.9. Can be tweeked more]
    Gaming Graphics: 6.6
    [ditto]
    Primary Hard disc: 5.9
[um. 12 mb cache? tweek it at another date]

    __

    *inexpensively added

How did you add the TV tuner? Was it a difficult mod?

I'd be interested to know too, if it was internal. I know you can just plug em in via USB or expresscard.

i WAS BUSY THIS WEEK: PLAYING W/ THE BAbY:

Was that with the FHD screen ; YES. AND IT's super Great!
My photos never looked any better!

MY BF HAS A OPTIPLEX desktop AND A 17" dell monitor.
    he NOTICED THE DIFFERENCE.

    NO TV TUNER yet,
b/c I'm still researching internal options. [avermedia v. who other, hp branded also recommended, remote of importance, remote that fits into pcmia slot super important]

Since there ar elimtied usb ports and currently one is for my mouse and hte other my drawing slate, internal [and it already set yup for such] NUMBER ! chioce.

It should be ez to put in.
    like bread into a toaster.

I was over at the outlet today & minus any available discounts [expired yesterday] there's a fully loaded 1747 w/blu-ray- FHD screen,8mgs, 600hd,bluetooth at 1179.
    [minus the tv tuner]

    I'm happy w/ my choice.

I jsut finsihed running crysis demo for 20 minutes [yawns]
and the cores hit a whooping 62 degrees. instantly went back down to the mid 50's. sitting at 48c as i write.

    So, it's a keeper.

I had so many finger prints on the lower left portion of the screen from running heat checks,
I had to buy some micro-fiber clothes yesterday to clean them off.

[plain old soft cotton, only spread the oils around]

Ahhh - so by 'inexpensively added', you mean it can be added inexpensively - I thought you meant you had already added one inexpensively :)
