hey guys i just bought a dell 1501 off ebay. im looking to upgrade to a 2gb memory. currently has a amd sempron 3500 processor, i think the specs are 533mhz ddr2. 1.8 ghz. which would be the best direction to go into? im not using it for gaming or anything but i dont want the bottom line brand. i see that there is pins on a memory stick, does it matter if its 200 or 240? thanks

yeah it will just needs to be a 200 pin one....

better yet.. since you already have 512 MB.. In case it is 512MB*1 ... you still have i slot left.. u can just add a 2GB RAM Stick... and get 2.5gb ram

In case u have 256*2 then u remove one and get 2GB and get 2.25gb ram

for some odd reason i heard that both memory sticks have to be the same size and speed. so i guess i will just add a 1gig and proabably be fine with 1.5

if they are the same size and speed (usually best to purchase two from the same manufacturer [ identical]) it allows the ram to run in dual-channel mode, faster.
