NFS carbon is a graphics intensive game, therefore it won't run on an integrated card. Games, unlike many other applications are heavily dependant on the graphics processor than the CPU. Integrated Intel GMA series is meant for displaying mostly 2D graphics and basic 3D stuff needed for day-to-day work. Not designed for gaming.
You should always look for a dedicated graphics card like ATI X series or nVidia Go series for gaming.

    This site will tell you

EDIT: About being able to play the games, you can not upgrade integrated graphics, sorry =/

EDIT 2: Also, integrated graphics aren't THAT bad. You will still be able to play a fair number of games, just on low settings, possibly low framerates. NFS Carbon...eh...I dunno. The others I think are possible though.

No, integrated cards cannot be upgraded (because they are integrated in to the motherboard).

You can still play non graphics intensive games, like RTS (Real time strategy) games or older 3D games that came out 2~3 years ago.
You might be able to play NFS UG (perhaps even UG2) at low resolution and low quality settings. But not MW or Carbon.

yeah I don't see why too many people here try to discourage people with integrated chips... It is true that integrated chips are no where near performance level of the better cards, and if you were really concerned about in game eye candy you should've paid the extra $$$ for that, however if all of your concerns is playability (i.e. being able to run the game and play it) with the new generation of integrated cards (Intel 950 etc.) you should be able to play about 95% of the games that are out there today.

even with x1400 it plays really really low settings. My 7600 have a hard time with the gfx even though NFS gfx is not that great with the enviroment... the cars are over glossy hahahahah.

Starcraft 2 has some cool trailers there...

We're not trying to bash. We're trying to be realistic.

You have to be especially careful with the GMA series...none of them have hardware based T&L, and are based in DX7 hardware. Despite the claims of DX9 compatibility, many newer games just crash immediately because of the lack of hardware functionality.

But, other integrated options do better. But the GMA is on the bottom of the rack.

Regardless, integrated gamers should focus on slightly older games...say 2-3 years older. Those do well, despite their 'weakness.'

GMA has other strengths....just not gaming.

Battery life, cost, and not much else.

You should be able to run up to Underground 2 comfortably, maybe MW on lowest settings. I was using the GME855 on my desktop until MW, and then I got an ATI 9250 for MW and Carbon. They ran pretty smoothly on low settings, but the X1600 in my iMac blows it out of the water. If you wanted to game, you should have upgraded to the X1400. (Now it doesn't appear possible to get an E1505/6400 without the X1400 or Go7300)

    Like he said...

Also, the integrated chipsets run cooler and are (usually) more quiet. Big pluses for some people...

At this point, it would be a good idea to call Dell and return the notebook. Getting a better graphics card would involve replacing the motherboard and getting the GPU...both parts are only available through Dell. On top of that, it will void the warranty, and it's a lot of work to do.

There's a 21 day return policy. Call them.
