i have a lenovo laptop and when i first got it, i completely reformated it to get rid of all the trial junk and halved my startup time. My frend just bought a dell, and from what im reading in these forums, there is no vista activation if you want to reinstall on a dell? I had to use a utility to backup the license, and then put it back again to preserve the license. How do dell users go around reformating/reinstalled, or do dells not come with so much bloatware? I read some tutorials on this dell forum, but they aren't detailed enough. Will the windows anytime upgrade CD be sufficient?
    Thanks.

I did a reinstall on my laptop and I was never asked for a CD key or activation. I didn't have much bloatware, but I wanted to start with a clean system without norton or google desktop.
