    no microphone installed?

    i just tried using skype but there wasnt any aduio coming from my end, i went to the device manager and it doesnt even say i have a mic installed? i have a new xps m1530 w/2.0 camera and its supposed to have TWO microphones? how can i sort this out?

    Do you have the Sigmatel High Definition Audio Codec installed? Go to control panel, sound > recording, is there a microphone array?

    Also, your m1530 only has one microphone..

    thanks that was the problem, no i have to figure out something for the way the webcam face tracking works. if you have it set on continuous it goes crazy, is that normal?

    Actually, it's a digital microphone stereo array. Pretty fancy really.

    Then there is the plug-in Mic jack.

    You'll get clearer sound if you use a headphone/mic combo. Sometimes a squeal will generate due to the built-in mic and speaker being too close together.
