Recieved my Vostro 1400 a couple of days ago with a grainy AUO WXGA+ panel, called Dell about this and I requested for a non-AUO panel the staff said ALRIGHT. Dell guy came this morning with an AUO with even worse quality then he called up Dell to address the problem.

Got a call from Dell at 8pm, the staff said :" I am sorry Mr Cool, Dell has addressed the poor quality of the AUO panels because of the recent complaints, and we are not using this panel anymore. All the new laptop will be equipped a MUCH BETTER QUALITY PANEL MADE BY SAMSUNG. After 2 weeks we'll arrange somebody to pick up your computer, and a replacement with new panel with be sent out after a couple of days."

    Believe it or not?

I would believe it when I see it... I think similar has been said before but the actions did not back up the words. Got my fingers crossed for you!

Do you know if the new Samsung panels are TN-Film?

The guy on the phone has no idea about these details, he just reported what his manager told him. I believe the best they can do is just drop the AUO panel, and use the SEC4457 which is generally better.
