Well I'm killing the beast that is dell today. This has been a pain since june. After I finally got my computer (specs below) it was cursed with a grainy screen. After the first replacement it was still grainy. I was estatic on the third replacement when to my amazement it was a flawless lg screen (no grain no backlight problems no bleeding stupendous viewing angles), UNTIL i realized there was no bluetooth in it. I could have it sent back and put back in it but theres only so much i can take. I'm just down with it and sending the computer back.

umm you can buy bluetooth for 10 bucks or have dell send you the card. it just snaps in...
-
After going through all that, it would be a total waste to return it simply for a missing BT adaptor.
Here : Refurbished ($11) , or New($20) Internal Wireless 355 Bluetooth Module .
Quite easy to install it yourself. -
Good luck finding another system with those specs for the price you paid. Not to mention the better warranty as well.....
-
Seeing that the price of the 1520 went up, no more coupons, and you waited that long, and have all the other issues fixed, giving up over BT is an odd choice. As others have said, it is a simple addition.
-
That just shows how dumb Dell is. It's like getting the same question wrong twice on two tests, and for the last one you got everything right but forgot to put your name.
-
What the heck are you guys talking about? Why should he pay for anything? Call up dell and they will give you a dispatch number and a technician will come to your house the next day to install it.
-
if you had a wsxga+ screen, i would buy it from you for a 50$ profit and return my grainy screen!!! lol. i don't use bluetooth much.
in fact, you could consider selling it. you will get your money back a lot faster than dell will give it to you, plus you could save some unfortunate grainy screen sufferer.

hmmm, that is an interesting idea but i dont think i am crafty enough to sell it.
Oh and i could get a better laptop than the one in my sig for a grand. I don't care how easy of a fix it is, i really just want to be done with this. -
well I'm completely happy with Dell...with the quality of my M1330....however they forgot to send me my bag.....so they have a rep on top of that to get me a bag...however they told me the Timbuk 2 was backordered....and so they going to order me a comparable one...so they say....I don't even bother anymore to call Dell about it since it's a free bag...eh...I just have the sleeve to carry it with me and a Swiss Army bag that's pretty sweet when I worked at Circuit City....
-
Remember that Dell's warranty support is second to none. If you are getting an HP, Sony, or dare I say Toshiba, pray that you don't have problems....

i only have the standard 1 year mail service. I dont see why i should consider the warranty.

Ok. Don't say you weren't warned.
Everyone has to do what's best for them, and I understand that.
I can tell you that I have had to deal with all of them (mostly what comes through our shop) and, well, you already know my preference. Dell will always make sure that if they cannot fix it, you will get a same or better system - no questions asked.
The others will throw you around so much that you will end up very frustrated. Dell's reps may not be the best, but at the end of the day you will most definitely be compensated pretty well. -
This is ridiculous, have the card sent, pop it in, and be thankful and happy you got exactly what you wanted and enjoy it.

lordofericstan,
I tried to PM you a few days ago, but you never responded. Just in case you didn't receive it, my name is Mike and I'm a Technical Analyst at Dell corporate headquarters in Round Rock, TX. I read the post here and wanted to make sure that you were able to get the BT card sent to you.
If you have any questions or problems please let me know.

But seriously, if you have a working system, keep it. Maybe ask for an additional discount or something - you know the drill, just tell them you want to return it because it's not the system you ordered. If you get more than $50 off, then buy the bluetooth unit later. If you don't, then just return it.
no more dell for me (even though i got a perfect wxga+ screen)
