I had booked my order on 23rd Jan.The rep then had said, there will be vista upgrade. Now they say, dell-india is not part of the program and hence i wont receive Vista. I have have to buy it myself. Can somebody confirm if this is true? Will there be no free upgrade to Vista in India? Can i get it directly from Microsoft?

I'm not surprised. Dell is probably worried about bootleg copies, and there is the whole shipping issue. Normal post is not predicable in India.

What does the Dell India site have to say? That's going to be the definitive source. I see that they are shipping units with Vista now that it's been officially released.

Well if he said it would have vista then you can hold them to it.

I dont consider not having vista a deal breaker but you can say you no longer want the computer because of him telling you false information. This probably wont give you vista but you can then get discounts, gift cards, upgrades, etc.

i called them up and sounded a bit upset to them, they asked for time and then said, they will give Vista and charge only for shipping.
I am not complaning as 500-600rs appears reasonable. But for what is that charge?Coz the shipping charges cannot be more than 150-200Rs.What for might they charge that extra?

What are they going to give? Vista Home Basic or Vista Home Premium?
