does the AMD processor really scare off that many of you from ordering the inspiron 1521? i just keep reading about the 1520 and vostro so maybe thats what i should have ordered. but i really don't feel like canceling cos i want my first laptop pretty badly... heh

    C2D > A64 X2

Less actual power and more computational power.

Well I tried the 1501 with AMD and didn't like it - not because of AMD - but because it came only with ATI graphics cards. But it's a fine processor - search for AMD vs Intel and you'll see that they are the same... no noticeable difference.

People just tend to go with "intel inside"

    intel inside, idiots outside, right?

seriously, AMD used to be so much better... they just randomly decided to suck at making dual core processors.

I have had 3 Intel and 6 AMD computers/notebooks, and there is no difference between them. Both make great quality chips. I would of gotten a 1521 if Dell had offered a video card, but I feel no regret going for Intel.

because the 1521 was the AMD version of the 1520 and the 1520 the Intel version of the 1521. you wouldn't get one processor on the other. besides, 8600GT > the other card.
