Sorry for bombarding this forum with my questions, but I'm really confused.
I don't know much about monitors at all so please bare with me.
1. I want to operate both screens at the same time, how do I do that? Right now I have the 22" as my "primary". Where can I go in to change this setting?
2. When I take out the VGA cord, from the VGA outlet on the M1210, the resolution changes on my laptop.
Then when I plug in the VHA cord again, it changes where the ICONS are on my 22". Any suggestions on how to get this to stop? thanks guys.

I'm not on my laptop right now so I can't check how I did it.
I'd go in the cataclyst program and I had the option there to run both screens at once. I'd set one as the primary and I'd pick the location of the second one.
I'm not sure how you can do it using an Nvidia card but I assume it would be in the options somewhere. -
hmmm thanks. I don't know why I didn't think of going into Nvidia's control panel in the first place. I thought I already went there.
BTW, does anyone know why when I run both monitors, I can't have my 22" set at 1680X1050 resolution? it only shows up as 1280X800. -
On the Settings tab of the Display Properties window (from the Control Panel, or right clicking the desktop and selecting Properties) you can specify the location for the two displays. The external display will only be the primary if you disable the internal LCD panel (on a notebook the internal LCD must be the primary).
You should be able to set the resolution of both displays independently, however, the allowable resolutions will be limited by the amount of video memory available to the video card (the more memory available, the higher the combined settings can be). This is effectively a hardware limitation of the video card.
If you have other questions on any of the Dell hardware I will be happy to answer them for you.
