    hi all
is there anyway to test if my dvd burner is functioning properly? In my previous posts I commented on how the burner had problems burning 3-4 gig files and now when I try to burn a music cd it's also causing problems. What should be a 4-5 min burn job doesn't finish, instead it stalls at around 78% which is weird. I tried burning on different media and with different files as well but no luck. Are there any programs that will let me test to see if it works properly?

Nero CD-DVD speed overburning test. Use a dvd+rw though
Have you installed aspi layer recently?

sounds like a media problem, not a problem with the burner

Taiyo Yudens are considered to be the best blank media, both CDs and DVDs. ASPI is related to SCSI drives. Sometimes ripping/writing programs use it even though they are not SCSI drives.

ditto...Installing ASPI can screw your system badly. Have you tried the Nero CD-DVD speed overburning test?

Run Nero InfoTool and click on ASPI tab and tell me if you have something like that under System ASPI

Which burning prog are you using?
