I believe this is very common for some of you owning Windows Vista (please say yes so I'm not alone :p )?

Sometimes out of nowhere the bsod comes up and begins dumping the memory. The only glimpse I could catch was nvlddmkm.sys

Microsoft said it was their fault and a fix would be available in sp1. Unfortunately not everyone gets sp1 through the windows update. Is there a fix for this?

Try reinstalling your video card drivers.
