Ive been away for awhile since college started but I noticed something interesting about the headphone jack distortion.

On windows vista I had the slight background noise w/ certain headphones plugged into the audio jack.

I recently installed ubuntu, and on ubuntu there is NO noise so maybe distortion has less to do w/ the soundcard

I spoke with tech support, they admit it's "motherboard problem". I got replacment unit, which has not headphone jack distortion. You should try to address this and at least get your motherboard replaced or try to get a replacement unit. Who knows what can happen later if it's really a motherboard problem.

Well I just stating what I observed. Why would there be no distortion on Ubuntu w/ any headphones? I found it interesting.

And the background noise is negligible to me anyways so I don't think i'll bother since it doesnt bother me. Thanks for the suggestion though
