these are pics of my dell 1500 and the wifes toshiba screens in a pitch black room with only the camera and the laptops set to blank for screen saver mode. i tried to get them as clear and normal color as possible to really show what i am looking at ... no exxagerated camera angles which make the light bleeding look a LOT worse than it can look like.. hope this may help me get my question answered as well as show more people what the vostro screen looks like in person as far as the bleed is concerned.. here goes (i did the best i could with the pics to make them look real color/bleed wise)
these were taken on a sony digital camera at 3.2mp.. no flash, no red eye or any other enhancements. 400iso setting.
first we have the vostro 1500: 3 different shots (cpt monitor code)

what do you guys think.. am i being to picky about the bleeding?? does this amount appear to be normal.. i am new to the notebook wrold i have always been a desktop user and i want the best i can get of course but dell did say i could send this one back but my question is do you think it could be much worse or should i be content with the one i have?? thanks again for this forum and everyones time i do appreciate it

another note is that my screen appears more "black" then her's while viewing it.. like hers has a more greyish tone while the dell is more jet black (excpet where the bleeding is..) also colors seem a bit more vibrant and reds are redder etc if you know what i mean.. hard to describe.. overall i think the screen has a better look to it while it is full of color the only time the bleeding is noticable is during screen savers or movies etc...

Your Vostro is not as bad as others.
I think most laptops will have some bleed.
I have access to a Compaq V2555, IBM T40 and the new Vostro 1400.
I will try to compare. I bet all will have some bleeding. -
thank you for any info..

And wow... if that shows up during movie's I'd be a little annoyed... and it seems like the toshiba's bleeding is more uniform while yours is all over the place. -
no the toshiba has its trubright glossy screen which looks like a black mirro and the dell has the truelife same glossy black
well i just called they are sending out a new one. the rep swore they will all have this problem and her manager said anyone that posts online that says they dont have it unless they provide pics "they are lying", but to keep me happy they will send me one out anyway.. i was like yeah thats nice to hear..
if you go to slickdeals over there almost every one of the 1400 and 1500 recieved the people have said they have baclight bleeding.. guess there is not much i can do, maybe i should call and say you know what i dont want the replacement just give me some $ off and ill keep the stupid thing.. i am just pretty pissed right now
okay took some better leakage pics..
