Okay, so my m1330 was running just fine 20 minutes ago. I come back after lunch, and it's off, which I thought was weird since I set it to never go to sleep, let alone go off. IT WON'T TURN ON
I can't even get it to boot into mediadirect. When I plug in the power cord, No charging indicator lights up.
DAMNIT I really need this laptop for school wtf should I do
-
Have you tried pulling both the power and battery? If so, next step is to obviously call Dell.
-
Did you use a surge protector?
I need more information to solve your issue. -
Okay, after more poking around, I found something...
The AC power brick doesn't light up when it's plugged in. I thought it was dead, but when I unplugged the laptop the brick lit up. When I plugged it into the laptop, the light went out. The laptop won't start on ac, battery, or both.
-
Call Dell, you'll most likely get a replacement. The light on the bring goes off when plugged in as a protection circuit. Something in your laptop has gone wrong.
-
Too funny...
crysis + 8400GS = fried 1330
You should know better than trying to run that game on a system with 1 fan...... -
Crisis, not crysis. As in the problem
Damnit, the last thing I need is a replacement. Mine is perfect, I don't want to risk getting a replacement with shoddy build quality.
Do you think they'll let me keep the hard drive? I really need my school files.. -
No, hes right. It is Crysis. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crysis) Sucks about the lappy, but for all the **** these guys give dell theyre pretty quick with replacement things. All the best
-
Sucks, but like others have said, Dell should have you covered. -
I know, I was just thinking about what would happen if you attempted to play it on a 1330....
-
Hehe it plays fine, low settings and average 30 fps
Anyway Dell is going to send out a tech to replace my motherboard, hopefully it will solve the problem. Thanks for all your help and support -
such a bad pun
-
darkcond0, from what you describe either the AC adapter failed, or the power supply portion of the motherboard. If its the AC adapter that should be a simple matter of having a replacement shipped out to you. If its the motherboard then either a depot repair or onsite service will fix the problem. The information on your hard drive should be perfectly safe (although i recommend removing the hard drive if you send it to the depot).
If things have not been fixed, please let me know and I will be more than happy to help you.

Another secret dell rep patroling the forums!!!
haha, "crysis" "crisis"
hilarious
I think dell's m1330 build quality has improved alot..
And it's holiday season, dell wouldn't want all those presents ruined now would it? =P
I just ordered a replacement today...
My 21 days is almost up so if that replacement is still messed up, I guess I'll be getting refurbished m1330s as replacements afterwards.. -
Thanks -
Sorry for not replying sooner. How much warmer is the system running? Also, have you run into any problems since the motherboard was replaced?
I know from personal experience that after enforced time away from a computer, then finally getting it repaired, things don't seem quite the same. I don't know if that is what is happening in this case, but it is something to keep in mind.
If you are worried about the heat check to make sure the fans are working (the Dell Diagnostics are good for this). You might also check your power management and BIOS settings for performance, as they might have changed with the motherboard. A simple thing like changing from battery-life to performance for power management preferences can make a significant difference in heat output on modern computers.
Freelancer332, if you are still having problems once you get the replacement computer please let me know and I'll be happy to check into things and see what I can do.

After having my motherboard replaced due to the dreaded GPU vertical lines issue this 2nd motherboard has just given up on me with the same issue as you Darcond0. I pluged my AC adapter in when the laptop was running and it died, turns out when I plug the AC adapter in now the blue LED on the adapter goes out and the M1330 won't POST at all. I've logged a service call to have the mobo replaced tomorrow. Hopefully this will work for me as it has for you.
Cheers,

I wonder what would happen if a game called "Problem" or "Question" comes out for PC thats graphics intensive and everyone mistakes it for the game. XD -
and... this thread is what, 8 months old? -
Scary how fast time flies isn't it?
-
If crysis runs on an 8400 GS than damn . . . I need to get to the store!
-
yeah there are a lot of videos on youtube of people with m1330 playing crysis
-
paper_wastage Beat this 7x7x7 Cube
crysis's performance-setter gives medium-settings for 8400M GS>... though i set to all low.. seeing that stresing the GPU too much for the m1330 isnt that good
