    optical drive making lots of noise

    I have an inspiron 1720 and my cd drive makes a lot of noise via vibration. everytime it's working hard, the table shakes from the violent vibration of the cd drive. It's really loud.

    and another thing. I can't access the device manager so I can't tell what brand/model it is.

    Edit: nevermind. I had to access the device manager through control panel (didn't see it). I accessed the one above through Systems (in control panel) and then clicked on device manager in the task pane on the left, which gave me that error. This is Windows Vista home premium 32-bit btw.

    Every dell optical drive I've used has been that way.

    Yeah, the few Dell Systems ive used did that also. When watching movies, my friends kept pausing between each sceen

    yeah, ask dell for a replacment....i got one and the new one is ok. (this was in august)
