    Hi i ordered a e1705 with 1 gig ddr667 ram, im going to buy more ram soon, and does the ram just have to be the same speed? what about the ram timings and all that? and will dell srew me over over putting in 2 512 mb sticks so I cant upgrade? thanks

    It really doesn't matter what the speed of the RAM is so long as it is 200-pin. You would've had to specified (and probably paid a little extra) for Dell to put in only one stick of RAM in their BTO section, otherwise, it'll come with 2 sticks of 512MB.

    If you want to add more RAM, you need 200-pin (as mentioned) DDR2-667 (PC5300) SO-DIMM RAM. The timings should be uniform for the most part, but to check you can use CPU-Z - google it.

    Dell probably installed 2x 512MB unless specified otherwise, but you can replace both of the sticks.

    ha now i know where dell screws you over, oh well i think 1 gig is enough for what ill be doing but its still kinda stupid, it better be dual channel
