So I ordered the black chainlink 14z from dell not realizing that the chainlink design was on the front the the inside. I saw it at best buy today and it looked awful and tacky. I really want to change to the blue matte finish. Anyways I called Dell today and they cant alter the order cause its already in production.
So I guess my only choice now is to wait for it to arrive and send it back. I heard that there's a 15% restocking fee. I alreayd know I dont want to computer... If i dont open it and just send it back, can I get a full refund from dell so I can re-order?
I also heard that you can refuse the shipment from UPS or FedEx to avoid the shipping fee. How does this work? You tell the delivery guy you dont want it and it send it back? And when Dell gets it they refund my money?
Thanks a lot

Speak to Dell about it. You can't return it without having to pay some form of charge unless this has been authorised by Dell. If they know you are going to order another one, they may agree to waive the fees.

Just cancel the order and then place a new order for the one that you want.

The op is asking if there is a way to cancel without having any charges applied. Technically, if you cancel Dell has the right to apply charges; and they often do.
As I said, speak to Dell; you need them to agree about not applying any charges. Only way I'm afraid.
Some people will say call the credit card company and cancel the payment; but then Dell are within their rights to then invoice you for the full amount unless you advise them of the cancellation, at which point they are still within their rights to invoice you charges in relation to re-stocking / administration.
I would not advise just telling the delivery guy that you don't want it - again Dell will likely send you the invoice for the return postage - they only pay for it to go one way. -

buyers remorse already huh

How about this... 1. accept delivery, 2. send unwanted Studio 14z to me, 3. order another one for yourself.
Seriously though, do not refuse FedEx/UPS delivery because if it doesn't get back to Dell, Dell will still try to blame you for it. Claiming the design was "misrepresented" sounds like the best idea. You could also get it, use it a few days to see if it grows on you or see if any problems arise. If there are quality problems, it'd be easier to get Dell to take the thing back without a restocking fee. -
Keep trying to contact Dell. If the phone wait time is too long, try the online chat. If they are sure that you don't want the system no matter what, they'll probably relent and let you switch.
It's better for both sides to switch now to avoid the system being shipped and returned (Depending on how it comes back, they may have to downgrade it to refurbished). It would be easier if you didn't special order too many non-standard things.
Certainly don't refuse delivery. That's tacky, even more than the chainlink design. It's really not Dell's fault, nor Fed Ex's.
ordered the chainlink 14z but now i dont want it! helppls:D
