Would it be possible to get the US Dell to ship to England?
If not from the website, how about if i phoned them or emailed them and got them to ship it over here?
Or if not then how much would it cost roughly to send a laptop by parcel force or whatever from america to here if i get friends to do it?

No, dell does not ship directly to England (i'm assuming you are wanting to know this for the coupons) . It does not matter what method you use, in order to use the coupons, the laptop must be paid for by a US credit card as well as shipped to a US residence.

If you want to try to get one of your friends to buy it for you, then that is your decision. You'll have the shipping costs and I imagine that it will be fairly high.

ok thanks for the help. Im just trying to work out whether it will be cheaper to use coupons and get my friends to ship it here than just buying from the UK one. But $750 off is more than the shipping is gonna cost im reconing.

Yeah it likley would be alot to ship a packaged laptop from the US to England. But if he has a good coupon for it, then the shipping would really be free southergirl. It would just make the coupon worth a little less, but still come out with a cheaper price then if you ordered it from England. The only thing you couldnt get around is the extra time. Figure 2 weeks on average for the average Dell laptop to get shipped to your friend here. Then depending on how he ships it, mabey another week or more before it gets to you in england. But if it saves you money, id see if your friend will do it.

i dont think i can be bothered to wait another 3-4 weeks though, cos i kinda need the laptop as soon as i can afford it fully. But i think i might do it if i cant find a better, cheaper one from here in the UK. Zeptos are nice but just a tad too much

I don't know. We've had users try to do this in Canada, and the exporting from USA to other countries seems to always cause problems - especially with laptops. It seems like it takes forever.

Well it is shipping fragile hardware. Dont fragile and delicate shipments take longet because better care is taken with them? Besides, if you really want it fast you could have it shipped courier, couldnt you? That would be alot faster than shipping it international air, but also really expensive. Like somewhere around $100 I would think. But like I said, if your saving $750 from a coupon, then its paid for already.

has anyone tried sending it as a gift? You tend to get less trouble that way.

Its at least 200 if you go by UPS. Not sure about the gift thing. I've never tried to ship a laptop to somewhere else. I've just horror stories about it.

Really I didnt know it was that much money to ship. Sumo if you lable it as a "gift" then yeah im sure you would get less trouble. I mean these companies dont want people to do this. I dont think its illegal or anything, but yeah id try the gift thing.

Well if the friend is a good enough one and will do it. You could just wire them the money, or send them a check or something, and them have them use their credit card to buy it, and then ship it to you. It would be a big hassle, but again, if it saves you money, and your friend is willing, why not.

or just paypal them and you would have to have them send it as a gift and at little value otherwise you will get dinged import dutys and dinged from the shipper so its a bit of a risk that i could of done as well but just bit the bullet and bought my 9400 from dell.ca, i have shipped lots of stuff all over the world and never had anything lost or broken outa 400 or so ebay sales but the 2 laptops i sold where close maybe 150 miles away so i wast concerned. i worked it out in Canadian bucks i paid about 275 more but with no worries :D
