I just got a new m1330 and want to do a format to get a clean system. My hd is 320 gigs and I've been hearing about partitioning but I don't fully understand if its necessary. What do you suggest I do with my system when I format my computer? How much for each partition? Thanks

Look, partitioning your HDD will be pretty good, let me explain to you the pros:

1.- If you get infected by a virus you can delete the windows partition and install windows back again

2.- You will have all your files in a different partition, that means that windows will not be installed in there.

3.- You can install more than 1 OS, you can install Vista and XP in the same HDD.

If you have 2 OS installed in your computer and one OS is corrupted you can enter the second one and back up your files to the files partition and perform an OS reinstall without any worries of data.

This is what i have right now in my HDD which is 320GB.

    2GB for Media Direct
    50GB for Windows Vista
246GB for Data this includes, music, photos etc etc.

    What I had before:

    50GB for Windows XP
    50GB for Windows Vista
and the rest for storage, in this case it wouldn't let me install Media Direct since Windows would not allow me to create 4 partitions for a single HDD.

Bottom line I would suggest you to partition your HDD it is safer.

    Just my 2 cents.

That sucks, if you are performing a clean install format your HDD, that way you wont have to pass through the same stuff.
