Just checked their website (US) this morning, they are releasing penryn T8300, T9300, T9500 on xps m1330. Also they have blu-ray drive for m1530.
Have not got enough time to check their whole site yet.
Just curious when they are going to have good deal on those low-end machines.

It's available in the first configuration option and on EPP under (best) as well, which is a realatively decent deal if you want a T8300...

Ah, you're right. It's strange how they only make it for the first option, but I see what you mean. Thanks.

EDIT: Jeez, those are expensive upgrades! It costs $225 to go from the T5450 to the T9300 on HP.com, but it costs $400 to do it on Dell.com. What gives? :-/

Yep... $65 on Lenovo to go from T8300 to T9300 ... $125 on Dell... I think they've added something like an extra $75 for each step in price... CRAZY!

Things can only get better I think. The deals are pretty weak right now and the Penryn pricing is really aggressive.

    Penryn+Led lcd and i will probally buy a m1530.
Unless ati releases the hd3650 before that. I figure that to be alot better option for 15.4" than 8600m gt.
I wonder if a ati graphics card will mean amd cpu? Just thought of that. That would be a disadvantage!

Now that Penryn processor based Dell XPS Notebooks are available for purchase, how would you switch to it? Cast your vote here!

    Hi XXX,

I am not sure who might have told you that you can get the T8100 processor but it is not available yet. We are being told it would be about a month before you would have it.

    Subject: Intel T8100

    XXX,

How are you? The new Intel Penryn processors for the XPS M1330 seem to be available on the online ordering site today. I had a quick question. I read that although only T8300 (2.4Ghz), T9300 and T9500 processors are listed on the website that an order can be placed for T8100 (2.1ghz) upon request by phone. Could you please tell me how much the T8100 costs (over a T7250) and whether you would be able to place such an order for me?

    Thank you.

    XXX

Will Dell ever only offer the T8000/T9000 series as the only option, instead of a huge costly upgrade over the T7000 series?

They will. It will be a month or two longer probably though.. just like the switch to Merom / Santa Rosa from older processors.

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7700 (2.4GHz/800Mhz FSB, 4MB at the moment for the m1530

    VS...

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T8300 (2.4GHz/800Mhz FSB/3MB cache) penryn on the m1330

less cache for a better processor, what the hell, not really any point

unless you get the 2.5GHz :D

Except for battery life, heat and possibly no whine issues. All a pretty big deal for notebooks.

10 % in battery life is all, and sleep mode will work better, while you have to trade it off for cache on the smaller processors, doesent make sense to me?

The difference in temperature wont be noticed, if you wont that go for the 1.66GHz processor ;)

The battery life percentage increase varies. In HP notebooks it has registered a 20% increase and on Apple's a reported 16.5 percent increase in battery life. That's hardly negligible.

I thought I might have regretted not waiting, but the T7800 in my config was pretty close to the high end Penryn and cheaper, so I won't lose any sleep over it. I don't really undertand all the hype over penryn.

me either.....are the penryn processors suppose to be faster? or are they mostly for improving how long a computer can last on its battery? :D

It doesn't matter to me, since my computer is plugged up 95% of the time anyway lol
