    playing avi files

    Hi,
    i have a dell inspiron 640m laptop running XP SP3. when i try to play AVI video's all i can get to play is the sound without any picture! even when i'm playing through windows media player, itunes, real player!

    Does anyone know of any software i can use to correct this?

    thats what i use for avi files

    I use vlc, it plays anything for me.

    Yes, kendoisonfire is right, VLC is pretty good. I also suggest you the SMplayer ( http://smplayer.sourceforge.net/), it's a complete, professional front-end for the well-known mplayer. All you have to do is to download, install, set file associations in the program.
