    please help light band on screen

    Hi, I am going mad, please help, I have a Dell Latitude D510, for some reason I have an area of the screen, a strip, that is kinda ghostly white, I can still see things int he strip, it started a few days ago.. it goes from top to bottom and is about an eighth of the screen, anyone have any ideas on what I can try to fix this....

    Sounds like the display is bad.
    Do you see the same thing if you use an external monitor?
    Do you see it outside of Windows or does it only appear after Windows starts?

    Chelet's suggestions are the best for determining if its the panel, video card, or software. If the white bar does not show up on an external monitor, but does show up at the Dell splash screen (just after powering on) then it is almost sure to be the LCD panel itself that is the problem.

    If your computer is still in warranty then it should be a simple matter to have either an onsite or depot repair scheduled (depending on what type of service contract you purchased with the computer). If you are not sure of the warranty status, or have not called into tech support yet, I'll be happy to provide any help I can.
