Supply and demand, my friend. Those are the key words
-
woo hoo 2.4GHz ... unless the pricing changes between now and when I can call and order
-
Just say "thank you" and take the 2.4Ghz
-
oh I am

Wow- that's bizarre. Actually, everything about their processor pricing has gone screwy this week- any dollar amount ending in "16" is a bizarre amount to charge.
It's nice that they're offering such a bargain on the T7700, but the complete absence of the T7300- generally considered to be the best price/performance match- is a real bummer for folks who aren't able to spend another $200 above what they're charging for the T7100.
Like kwakkel says, supply and demand...and most likely a price mistake that will be corrected in an hour or two. -
Intel had announced price cuts effective sept2, and a new set of processors. Someone mentioned that intel has a bin approach, and when they do this, a new processor goes in the top, and the bottom one drops out.
Here's a link to the new processors -
Interesting- the new prices aren't in effect until Sunday and the new chips won't be available until then, but Dell must be adjusting already. Here's a link to the new pricing scheme; looks like:
1. The T7250 (not yet offered by Dell) replaces the T7100 (at the same price) as the entry-level "performance" C2D chip
2. The T7500 replaces the T7300 as the mid-level chip (and the first with the 4MB L2 cache) at the same price
3. The T7700 gets a big price drop- but not enough to explain the fact that Dell's offering it for less than the T7500 now
4. The T7800 supplants the T7700 as the top "performance" chip, with "extreme" chips above it.
The bottom line seems to be that Dell's already factored in the price cut for the T7700 but not the T7500, which is bizarre.
All in all, it would have been nice to get the T7500 for the same price as the soon to be late, lamented T7300, but given that this will probably result in another batch of delays, I'm just happy to have my lappy. -
pissed that i didnt wait 2 days.
-
send it back? or ask to compensate?
though it isn't really fair, it is possible -

More importantly, they haven't applied any of the changes to the UK site, so you wouldn't save anything anyways if you ordered today.

Well the reason I canceled my order is that the T7300 is back ordered which pushed my order back another 2 weeks. Now I have to believe there is a shortage of these chips or they are being phased out because they have gone missing off of other sites CPU lineups as well.
At any rate, since I ordered my Sager from XoticPC I found out that my T7300 will get a free upgrade to the T7500.
Dell is going to make you wait until you cancel to force you to reorder, which btw, is at a higher price than you originally paid.
For those waiting on a T7300, you could be in for a long wait. -
I think you can better ask them to put in a T7500 instead because that is currently offered at a lower price than the T7300 and it is not your fault that you did not know they would be running short of T7300....
-
-
Yeah but DELL had not mentioned about a delay while placing the order and so DELL will be glad to do some arrangements regarding this..... Or even if not the processor try to squeeze something out since the current prices have entirely changed
-
the prices overall of the systems are now higher than a couple of days ago even thought the cpu's went down they raised the starting prices up
-
Yes I have noticed they took the T7300 off. Also, has anyone heard about any new Dell coupons for this week? I have not seen any anywhere.
processor prices?
