    ok i posted about my very old dell note book and asked questions about charging and resetting it self back to windows 98 well the out come... I pulled it all apart and found that all the times i tripped over the cord i loosend the weld on the plug outlet on the laptop so tomorrow im heading to the store and get solder and weld it back on properly does any one know where i can get a new part its the part its where the plug plugs into on the notebook well any way its a insp. 5150

    yeah thats it!!! there are 3 welds broken so im gonna try to re solder it and see what happends worst case i buy a new part the computer was only few months old when this happend

    If the computer is 3 months old ... wouldn't it still be under warranty?

    No the computer is many years old like 5 or somthing but when it broke it was only a few months old and dell wouldnt help me in any way dell serviced sucked the i guess

    Don't know your soldering experience, but make sure your soldering iron is not more then 10 or 15 watts otherwise you can smoke the board, also since these motherboards are multi layer you need to make sure it flows through the holes. Only trying to help and not insult in any way.
