my question is, will there be an easy way to remove all the junk that is pre-installed? or will I have to reformat and then have a clean winxp install?
thanks!

You could try to uninstall as much as you can, however I have not been a fan of this because sometimes uninstalling does not get rid of all the registry updates the program made, which in turn can still slow down your computer. I recommeded doing a format and fresh install of XP.

Nice setup
I agree with Nesbo that a clean install is where you would most likley want to do. Unless you are a fan of digging in teh registery and pulling things out, a clean install is always better. You get get a XP reinstall CD in your package so that will not be a problem. Jsut stick it in and follow the instructions.

Reformat. When i got my 8600, i started to uninstall their software, then I realized that resistance was futile and reformated the damn thing. They load way to much crap on their systems.
question about dell pre-installed software
