Hi, everyone. I recently ordered a dell I9300 and it's on the way of delivery. I'm probably going to format everything and install a new WinXP on it. However, I wonder is it there any software or driver that I have to keep in order to use all the function keys (such as the media control, light, sound)? Because I previously owned a sony VAIO laptop, z1va. When my system crushed I just simply format it and install my xp on it, but it turned out most of the function key cannot be used because the VAIO Fn keys can only work when the disk partition is as same as the factory setting, and with some very weird fixed files and drivers. So I just wondering dose dell have something like this also? Or it just doesn't matter at all to do a whole new installation. Thanks.

I'm not 100%, but I think you'll need Dell MediaDirect and Dell QuickSet.
You can check out all the "needed" applications for i9300 at the following link:

Most of the FN keys will work without any software. Some like the battery display requires Quickset, but the media buttons, sound, brightness, and wifi don't require anything for them to work.
Quickset is also required if you want it to be displayed when you are changing it. I can't think of what it is called, but like if you change the brightness with the FN keys and have quickset, it will popup with a box showing what level you are at.
