    i noticed on the dell website dell xps offer for the 1710 comes with Intel core 2 duo. currently i own a xps m1710 but the processor that i have is centrino duo, i just want the ask if the 2 processors from the xps are the same will the other perform better than the one that i have right now.

    In a strict sense, yes they do. You are unlikely to notice a difference.

    The difference is usually listed as about 10%. Not significant. There's the 64-bit thing to consider too, though.
