    question on Dual-Core

    sorry, if it's lame. I have a 1.83 dual-core processor. when I go to "general system properties" it says T2400 @ 1.83Ghz 988 Mhz, 2.00 GB of RAM.
    So, I was just wondering if it is supposed to be this way and not T2400 @ 1.83Ghz 1.83 Ghz. I was just thinking that both "cores" should be running on 1.83 Ghz. would be bery grateful if someone explains.

    Actually, that is how Windows XP reads your processor - first line is the processor model (T2400) and its designated speed (1.83GHz). Below that is what the CPU is actually running at. It does look odd, I agree.

    That's just your power management properties coming into play. The processor downclocks when not in heavy use to use less power and generate less heat.

    lol ya its intel speed up tecnology, basically it's what gives u those 3+ hours on the go, lol

    Not to be too technical, but its Intel SpeedStep Technology, not Intel Speed up ;)
